Hand made Devil Bomber WW2 cartoon lapel pin

$30.00

" Bombs Away" lapel sculpture by Thomas Kuntz 2018
This was inspired by a WW2 bomber group logo. It is cast in hybrid resin at my workshop in California USA.
The cartoon devil is riding/ guiding his bomb down to the enemy target! Vintage Bomber/ fighter logos had highly imaginative and expressive imagery. I grew up near an airfield that was used by allied forces for training during WW2...I spent many hours building aircraft models and listening to tales told by veteran pilots, and mechanics.
This experience was his initiation into machining and mechanics. It influenced my artistic pursuits as well. As with all my creative output, I design pieces that I use and wear myself, things I'm passionate about. In the photos you can see my original sculpture, the tools I used and the jacket patch that inspired it, now in an air museum in Mesa Az.
